Customer Service Advanced Apprenticeship at CWT Chamber Training
Good customer service is key to the success of any business. A Customer Service Apprenticeship will teach you the skills to provide excellent customer service, skills which can be applied to hundreds of job roles across many different sectors, from work in retail, financial services, call centres, hospitality, or sport and recreation – anywhere where front-line customer interaction is involved. The customer service duties you will perform will vary greatly depending on the type of organisation that employs you, whether that is a small local business or a multi-national company.

As a customer service Apprentice, you’ll work at the front end of an employer’s business, assisting customers. Duties will vary between sectors, but in most cases you’ll be making sure that customers are dealt with in a positive, reliable and pleasant way – whether that’s by offering advice, answering questions or handling complaints. Your experience may include:
- Communicating with customers
- Developing customer relationships

- Promoting products and services
- Communicate using customer service language

- Customer service development & improvement
You will undertake a mixture of on and off the job training where you will develop practical skills in customer service as well as learn the theory, including the law, of handling customers to give excellent service. Most of your time will be spent with your employer, gaining hands-on practical experience.
We will provide you with high quality information, advice and guidance to ensure that you are on the right course. You will have an individually designed training plan which will build on your existing skills. A dedicated Training Advisor will work with you throughout your Apprenticeship to provide you with support and advice.
This Apprenticeship is aimed at people with an interest in working in customer support, telephone advisors, sales advisors and consultants. In general you will need to be friendly and approachable, helpful, smart, organised and customer focused. You will need to be prepared for hard work and varied tasks and able to work individually and as part of a team.
Although there are no specific entry requirements, GCSE’s in Maths and English would be an advantage, but whatever your GCSE’s we will design an Apprenticeship to suit your needs. An Advanced Apprentice will need to be able to work independently.
Typically an Advanced Apprenticeship is a natural progression from Intermediate level 2, however depending upon your job role it is acceptable to join at the advanced level.
Assessment is normally through on-the-job observation and questioning. You will produce evidence to prove that you meet national qualification standards. You will be appointed a Training Advisor who will work with you throughout your Apprenticeship. The Training Advisor will test your knowledge; understanding and work-based performance to make sure that you can work effectively in your chosen career.
When you start an Apprenticeship, CWT Chamber Training will provide you with the information, advice and guidance to help you make the right choices. An individually designed learning plan will build on your existing skills and track your Apprenticeship progress.
Typically you will undertake a mixture of training in the workplace as well as attending CWT Chamber Training's training facility for additional learning.
You will be a paid an Apprenticeship salary by your employer, this will be agreed when you are offered a job. For those who are aged 16 - 18, Apprenticeship training is fully funded by the Government and all of the agreed costs of your learning will be met. For those who are 19+, partial Government funding is available; this will be discussed at the point of enquiry.
The opportunities are endless. From Level 3, you will be able to progress in your job role to more responsible job role where you will be expected to work independently and able to take on more responsibility. Successful completion of an Advanced Apprenticeship will stand you in good stead for progression into higher education, developing your career as you work. There is a clear pathway of learning to enable you to progress:
- NVQ 3 - Customer Service Advisor/Team Leader
- NVQ 4 - Customer Service Manager
- Foundation Degree - Business Development Manager
- Business Development Degree - Business Manager / General Manager
