Chemistry at Lincoln Christ's Hospital School

Course description

The course begins with concepts introduced at GCSE that are familiar to students and develops them further. This provides an opportunity for all students with the sufficient requirements to enter our Sixth Form to succeed from the start. However the later demands of the course are better suited to those students with at least BB grade in Double Science or BBB in Triple Science and a good ability in Mathematics. The course is delivered by a department which endeavours to provide quality teaching in a caring environment where the needs of each individual is catered for. The department embraces independent learning methods using traditional text books and ICT in addition to class teaching and laboratory based practical work. Student progress is closely monitored and a variety of intervention strategies are used to support students. This approach has proved effective, with the department having a strong track record of students achieving successful grades, with considerable value added from Key Stage 4.
