Career Ready at Prior Pursglove And Stockton Sixth Form College

Course description

Prior Pursglove Career Academy helps raise our students’ aspirations and bridge the gap between education and work by giving you access to real experience of the world of work.

It provides a structured programme of academic study (two business subjects of your choice), alongside paid internships, mentoring by employer volunteers, motivational lectures and workshops to give students the work experience and skills they need to be able to perform more effectively in the wider world.

No other programme of study combines academic study and works experience in this way. The two year programme will provide opportunities to gain full understanding of the dynamic financial sector and provide a structured work placement which for the most part is fully paid within the banking or related sectors.

Students should expect to be hard working with the ability to work as part of a team as well as on an individual basis. You should be actively interested in pursuing a career in the financial sector including accounting, banking and or business management. The ability to interpret numbers in a financial context is important but GCSE level maths skills will be sufficient to cope with the course demands. As you will be expected to undertake an internship you should be prepared to develop interpersonal and communication skills to enable you to contribute to work place environment.
