Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing at Kingston College
Apprenticeships are training programmes designed for young people aged 16-24 who have left full-time education. This qualification leads to a National Vocational Qualification at Level 2 plus Functional Skills. Apprentices must be employed within the vocational area. Government guidelines state that apprentices should be employed for 30 hours per week; there is flexibility so please discuss individual circumstances at interview. Please note, apprenticeships and advanced apprenticeships are not available to International students.
The course offers the opportunity to gain advanced hairdressing and barbering techniques. Units include consultations, creative cutting, colouring & styling, colour correction and cutting men‘s hair. Your learning programme may also include Functional Skills in English or Mathematics and Employee Rights & Responsibilities.

NVQ Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing or equivalent, interview and a reference. GCSEs at grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills in Mathematics and English.
Good IT skills with access to a computer and the internet. Current experience working as a junior hair stylist or stylist (minimum of 30 hours per week).
Assessment is continuous both in College and the work place.
HNC Level 4 in Hair & Beauty Management, educator for manufacturers, assessor or lecturer. Employment in a salon. Opportunities for working abroad as a stylist.
