Computing A Level at New College Telford

Course description

This course enables you to enhance your knowledge of computers and enjoy a challenge that involves problem solving.

Course content

•Understand the main principles of solving problems using computers. •Understand the range of applications of computers and the effects of their use. •Understand the organisation of computer systems. •Acquire the skills to develop computer-based solutions to problems. •Understand the main principles of systems analysis and design. •Use appropriate methods of implementation, testing and documentation.

Entry requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs at grades A* to C, including grade B in Maths plus grade C in GCSEs English.

Future opportunities

This could lead to degree courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Games Design and Games Programming. Past students have also gained employment in Computing or ICT related posts or progressed to training in areas such as ICT support.

Further information

This course combines well with all science subjects but especially Maths and Physics, and also Business Studies.
