Dance BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at South Downs College

Course description

The BTEC dance course offers 17 subjects, most of which are purely practical. You will learn skills in contemporary, ballet, jazz, tap and choreography to name but a few!

Course content

You will perform in 3 public shows per year in our College Theatre, participate in workshops from professional dance companies, attend educational theatre visits and choreograph and perform in South Downs College’s Rock Challenge!

Entry requirements

Minimum of five GCSEs including English at grade C or above or, a Merit grade from a Dance Level 2 Diploma plus English GCSE at grade C or above.

Some dance experience is essential before starting the course. All students are auditioned to ensure the course will meet their needs.

Financial information

Equipment Costs

£40 per year to pay for a professional dance workshop and professional dance shows, including transportation.


You will need ballet shoes, pink tights, a black leotard, black leggings or dance trousers and tap shoes.


Future opportunities

Many of our students go on to professional dance schools such as Bird, The Place, Laban, Performers and London Studio Centre.

Many others go on to study at a university such as Middlesex, Winchester, Chichester, Surrey or East London College.
