Physics A Level LEA at Invictus Sixth Form
Are you driven by a thirst for knowledge about the world around you? Where did the universe come from? How do stars form? What interactions are taking place in the quantum world? A level physics will make you think and develop the skills to answer these questions. You may be considering a career in science research, astrophysics, mechanical engineering or chemical engineering. You will develop high level thinking skills which can be applied to real life situations. You will learn about a range of topics from the quantum world to the world around you.
The A’ level course is split up into 6 modules. These are as follows:
• Module 1 - Development of practical skills in physics
• Module 2 - Foundations of Physics
• Module 3 - Forces and motion
• Module 4 - Electrons, waves and photons
Taught at AS Level
• Module 5 - Newtonian world and astrophysics
• Module 6 - Particles and medical physics
Taught at A Level
2 separate exams each weighted at 50% of the course grade. Both exams are 90 minutes long and consist of 70 marks each.
3 separate exams. 2 exams weighted at 37%, 1 weighted at 26%. There is also the practical skills unit that needs assessing to complete the course.
A Level physics will open doors into a range of careers. It can help students move into roles such as:
Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, Astrophysics, Research and development, Architecture, Medicine.
