Physical Education at Drayton Manor High School

Course description

The course forms a link between practical performance and relevant theoretical knowledge. Students will learn that successful sporting performance draws on a wide body of knowledge and understanding, including areas of anatomy, physiology, psychology and sociology. The course allows students who enjoy sport and sporting activities develop their all-round knowledge of the subject whilst pursuing an academic course they enjoy and can relate to. It enables students to develop some key skills, essential to their future careers.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses such as Science to prepare for higher education in areas of Sport Studies, Recreation, Exercise and Science or more general higher education courses. With further training you could go into a job related to Physical Education such as a Physiotherapist, Teacher, Exercise or Fitness Trainer. The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the sporting sectors.
