Course description

Level 3 Certificate (AS equivalent)
First Year You will study six different units, 3 in year 12 and 3 in year 13:
Unit 1 – Communication & Employability Skills for IT
This unit ensures that students understand both the personal attributes valued by employers and the principles of communicating effectively whist developing effective communication skills and addressing their own personal
development needs.
Unit 2 – Computer Systems
This unit allows students to understand the components of computer systems and develop the skills needed to recommend appropriate systems for business purposes and set up and maintain computer systems.
Unit 28 – Website Production
This unit enables students to understand web architecture
and the factors that affect its performance and to be able to
design and create interactive website.
Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma (A2 equivalent)
Second Year
Optional units include:
Unit 12 - IT Technical Support
This unit allows students to use their understanding of technical support tools and techniques and organisational policies and procedures to source technical information and communicate advice and guidance to resolve technical problems
Unit 23 – Human Computer Interaction
This unit provides for students to know the impact Human Computer Interaction (HCI) has on society, economy and culture and provides the basic skills and
understanding required to enable students to design and implement human computer interfaces
Unit 30 – Digital Graphics
This unit develops students’ digital graphics skills allowing them to understand different types of digital graphics images and file formats and to be able to create, edit, modify and manipulate digital images of various types and complexity.
