Sport - Level 2 BTEC Diploma at Yorkshire Coast College
The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport is a full-time vocational qualification that is equivalent at Merit level to 4 GCSEs at grade C.
The programme is designed to develop your theoretical and practical knowledge of Sport through working towards a Level 2 nationally recognised qualification.
You will participate in a variety of team and individual sports and learn how to use fitness tests/training to measure and improve fitness levels of yourself and others.
You will also learn how to plan and lead sports activities.
You will cover 7 units in total over the one year, full-time course:
- Lifestyle and the sports performer
- Anatomy and physiology for sport
- Fitness testing
- Planning a sports activity
- Injury in sport
- Practical sport
- Sports nutrition
Functional Skills are a mandatory part of the course and you will be required to study either Maths, English or ICT depending on your previous achievements in these subjects.
4 GCSE Grades D. Level 1 vocational qualification. You will be expected to have a keen interest in sport and fitness, a positive attitude and have good attendance.
Upon successful completion of the BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in Sport learners could progress on to the BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Sport where they will develop on the fundamental skills learnt at level 2.
