Plumbing Apprenticeship Level 2 at New College Nottingham

Course description

Apprenticeships are a great way to learn and earn at the same time. If you know that you want to be in the plumbing trade then an Apprenticeship can give you access to a real working experience, during which time you will be supported by both your employer and a team of professional assessors from New College Nottingham.

Course content

Over the course of two years you will develop the following skills to professional standards:
 
• Understand and carry out safe working practices in building services engineering
 
• Understand and apply domestic hot water system installation and maintenance
 
• Understand and apply domestic above ground drainage system installation and maintenance techniques
 
• Install and maintain domestic heating systems

You will also study English, maths and ICT throughout the Apprenticeship to achieve minimum Level 1 standard. All apprentices complete a module covering employee rights and responsibilities too.

On this course you will be continually assessed – there will be no exam but instead you’ll be expected to submit a regular portfolio of work and produce a range of written assessments.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course although your employer may request that you have certain grades. 
To be an apprentice in the UK you must:
•Be aged 16 or over 
•Have lived in the UK for the past three years 
•Be employed in the trade and work a minimum of 30 hours per week

Assessment

On this course you will be continually assessed – there will be no exam but instead you’ll be expected to submit a regular portfolio of work and produce a range of written assessments.

Future opportunities

Once you’ve completed this Apprenticeship you will have the skills required to move into professional plumbing. You may decide to move up into a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship which may unlock your potential to be self-employed or run your own plumbing business.
