Course description

Year 12 + 13 Art at Ryburn is essentially a fine art biased ‘A’ level course, studied over 2 years. The exam can be broken down into 3 main areas Course workan external examination in Year 12 and 13and a written personal study of an Art History ThemeA Moderator visits at the end of the course.The results are very good with many students going on to Art College and University.Work is produced on an individual basis and students benefit from visits away and from prominent international artists in the department.Students can study art post ‘A’ level. The process usually starts with a one year foundation course studied at a local college. BA Hons courses vary from Fine Art to Graphics, Fashion, Photography, Ceramics, Furniture design and textiles. Careers are challenging and rewarding. Students have recently moved on to study Medical illustration, Textiles and Fine Art at degree level.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses such as History of Art to prepare for higher education in areas of art and design, photography, architecture or more general higher education courses.With further training, you could go into a job related to art and design such as an Architect, Interior or Fashion Designer.The course will also encourage you to explore your creative mind and help you develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
