Photography A-Level at George Salter Academy

Course description

This course is aimed at those students who want to explore Fine Art Photography. Students study and analyse the work of other fine art photographers and use this to inspire, inform and influence their own work . They will learn about the theory of Photography and will also have put into practice their skills through shoots on location, in the studio, darkroom and digital suite.

Students will develop their imaginative and creative powers, analytical capabilities, documenting and presentation skills as well as their research gathering and critical and contextual understanding.

Progression routes from this course

This course is an excellent springboard for any Photography based degree at university or foundation art level. This qualification allows students to experiment and explore with a range of photographic skills and techniques, giving students a broad base of lens and lightbased media skills.

Assessment is continuous throughout the year, but there are two examination entry points – January and June.

Entry requirements

At least a C at GCSE, equivalent in any art discipline or qualification.
