Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care - CACHE Level 2 Certificate at East Durham College
This course is designed for those interested in developing knowledge, skills and understanding of the caring services. This course includes work experience which provides you with first-hand understanding of the workplace, giving you the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and understanding and enable you to gain employment within health and social care contexts.
Topics covered on the course include; effective communication in health and social care, healthy living, human development, health and social care values, the impact of nutrition, creative and therapeutic activities in health and social care and social influences on health and well being.
To enrol on the course you will require three GCSEs at D grade or above including maths and English. Or you may also hold a level 1 in any subject and a minimum of Entry 3 maths and English. You will also require a successful reference and a clear DBS (Disclosure Barring Service).
Evidence for assessment will include two externally assessed exam units. The remaining units will be assessed through a range of activities including written tasks, role play, verbal presentations and displays. Learners will also produce a portfolio which evidences their learning and skills in the work place. You will receive assignments made up of a variety of tasks and be expected to meet deadlines for assignments.
If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.
You will be able to apply for work in the health and social care sector as a Care Worker or Health Care Assistant.
On successful completion of the course you may progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
