BTEC Ext Certificate in Creative Media Production Level 2 at Richmond Adult Community College
This 30-credit BTEC Level 3 Certificate covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in this specialist area of the creative media sector. This BTEC Level 3 Certificate offers an engaging programme for those who are clear about the area of employment that they wish to enter, and combines hands-on practical learning in a workshop environment with more theoretical aspects and an essential overview of the industry today. Learners will also develop essential market research skills and practice their communication techniques – invaluable training for giving pitches and presentations. For adult learners the course could valuably extend overall knowledge of the creative media sector as well as providing specialist training in video and TV. It may also be a suitable qualification for those wishing to change career or move into a particular area of employment following a career break.
The course will cover the following: Two core units: 1. Research for Creative Media Production Learning how to research into target audience, viewing figures, circulation etc. 2. Communication Skills for Creative Media Production Practising your pitch and presentation skills in both written and oral presentations. And two specialist units: Web Authoring Print Production All units are assessed and individually graded and an overall grade is awarded for the qualification. You will learn by completing projects and assignments, based on workplace scenarios. The course will prepare you for employment or for study at a more advanced level and is an ideal starting point for those considering a career in the film or video industries.
Students should already have appropriate qualifications (English, Maths) to Level 2 or equivalent. Students without the relevant certificates may be asked to carry out a numeracy and literacy screening prior to acceptance onto the course.
Learners will be assessed formally through coursework which will be a combination of written work, production of video footage, presentations, projects, observations etc. This is a level 2 course and all student work is externally moderated by the relevant board.
