GCSE History at Nether Stowe School

Course description

The OCR GCSE History syllabus is over 3 units:

Unit 1: Medicine through Time (a development study)

Unit 2: Local coursework study (involving a trip to Coalbrookdale)

Unit 4: The American West (Cowboys and Indians!)

Entry requirements

Optional Course - discussion with subject Teacher


This is an intense course where you will study two different periods and complete coursework worth 25% of your overall grade.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in History or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to history such as a Teacher, Historian or Archaeologist. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
