Sport: Performance and Excellence (Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma) at Central College Nottingham

Course description

This course is designed for elite level footballers who are motivated to gain employment in the football and sport industry.

Course content

This course combines academic and practical study in a broad spectrum of disciplines in sport that will help you achieve your goals. There are excellent opportunities to gain experience in a range of roles at local, national and international sporting events. The course includes practical BTEC units which aim to develop your sport and exercise leadership abilities as well as your own match fitness. Other units develop your academic knowledge to help you understand all aspects of sport performance. Further units help provide an insight into the support services in the football and sport industry.

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

One of the following:

  • 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English Language and Maths*
  • A relevant Level 2 qualification including GCSE English Language and Maths* at grade A*-C

*If you do not have GCSE Maths at A*-C, we may accept a Grade D in addition to your 4 GCSEs at A*-C. Functional Skills may be accepted instead of GCSE English and/or Maths. Functional Skills Level 1 is equivalent to GCSE Grade D and Level 2 to GCSE Grade C.

Adults who are aged 19+ with relevant industry experience but without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

Assessment

Assessment is from a wide range of methods on a continuous basis. The Subsidiary is completed in year 1 and the National Diploma offered in year 2.

Further information

To support your application we will ask you to bring in a school report.

Students will need to purchase sports kit (approximately £85) for use in practical sessions and at external events. There will also be an additional charge for the elite training kit. All subjects / modules are subject to change. Students are expected to complete a DBS check.
