Media Studies AS/A2 Level at Alexandra Park School

Course description

A range of contemporary Media including Film, TV, Radio, Advertising, Print Media and the Internet

You will learn how the Media are produced and consumed and will apply the Key Concepts of Media Studies to specific texts.


Course content

The AS is a one year course consisting of two modules.

The full A level is gained by completing two more modules in the second year.

Entry requirements

GCSE Media Studies is not required to take this course at AS Level but it will be an advantage. For those without it there is an online learning module which can be done over the Summer. If taken, an A*-C in Media Studies is required. An A*-C in GCSE English is required.

Future opportunities

Media Studies A Level provides an excellent springboard to many Degree courses including Communication and Cultural Studies, Media Studies, Film Studies and Photography.

Media Students go on to work in: Film & TV, Radio, The Press, Web Design, PR, Advertising, Publishing and Event Management.
