Independent Living Skills Entry Level (Hillsborough) at Sheffield College

Course description

This is a 1 year full time course.
About this course

The Independent Living course is designed for young people with learning difficulties, offering practical learning experiences for life and work both on college premises and in and around Sheffield.

Students can also develop their functional skills as appropriate.  Students work in small groups with a high level of support from learning disability specialists.

Students have individual support plans and 2 multi-agency reviews a year, to help with support, reviewing and planning.  We aim to foster good working relationships with the key people in student’s lives, including family, carers, support workers and other professionals involved.

This a one year full time course for students who need to prepare and plan for their future.  This could involve developing skills that will help in their move to independent living.

Some students then progress to the Supported Pathways into Work or other Foundation Learning Courses within or outside the college.

An interview to discuss the student’s support needs would be required.
