Course description

The Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism is a one year full time course designed to prepare learners for careers in the travel and tourism industry including airports, travel agents as well as careers working abroad, or continuing in further education.

Course content

You will gain 60 credits to make up your full diploma from the following: - Core units: - The UK Travel and Tourism Sector - UK Travel and Tourism Destinations - Delivering the Travel and Tourism Customer Experience - Mandatory units: - The Development of Travel and Tourism in the UK - International Travel and Tourism Destinations - Factors Affecting Worldwide Travel and Tourism - Travel and Tourism Business Environments - Optional units may include: - Promotion and Sales in Travel and Tourism - The Cruise Industry - UK Visitor Attractions - Travel and Tourism Employment Opportunities - Airports and Airlines - Holiday Representatives - Overseas Holiday Operations - Hospitality Operations in the Travel and Tourism Sector Learners may also undertake practical sessions using our airline simulation during the course as well as participating in a range of events. Students who do not have a grade C or above in GCSE English and /or Maths will be required to study these subjects as part of the programme of study.

Entry requirements

- 4 GCSEs at Grade A* - D including English and Maths with grades A* - C in English or Maths - A good interview and references - A Level 1 College course will also be considered where students have met their personal targets.

Assessment

Assessment involves the completion of assignments, group presentations and practical activities. Most units of work are internally marked but two are externally assessed by the examining body. You will receive verbal and written feedback in relation to your assignment work.

Future opportunities

Successful students that have met their personal targets can progress to a Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma or a Level 3 (90 Credit) Diploma in Travel and Tourism
