Sport Performance & Excellence BTEC Advanced Diploma Level 3 at Fareham College

Course description

This course provides you with the opportunity to study various aspects of sport with an emphasis on performance and coaching. It is a stimulating combination of practical and theoretical work.

Course content

During your course you will study a number of specific units including:

  • Anatomy and physiology in sport

  • Fitness training and programming

  • Sports nutrition

  • Psychology for sports performance

  • Technical and tactical skills in sport

  • Sports coaching

  • Sport as a business

  • Practical team sport

  • Sports injuries

Students may undertake additional coaching awards, such as Community Sport Leaders Award, Higher Sport Leaders Award and Higher Sport Leaders Award.

You will also be encouraged to take part in a range of voluntary activities.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths.

Financial information

  • You will be required to purchase a Fareham College sports kit to wear for practical sport activities.
  • Students who are working in the gym will also need to purchase a gym polo shirt.
  • You may also incur extra fees/additional costs for residential trips.

Future opportunities

Progress to HND in Sport and Exercise Sciences, apply to university to study for a degree or apply for a Higher Apprenticeship scheme.
