Design Technology (Food) at Ribston Hall High School

Course description

The course aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop their creativity and capability skills, knowledge and understanding in a range of technological activities using food. Students should have a strong interest in design, modelling, making and evaluating products, together with an interest in the processes associated with technological activities.

Course content

AS Level
Unit 1: This unit entails developing an understanding of nutrition in a human context.
Unit 2: This unit is a design and make assignment. Students select their own context, from which design and manufacture a viable food product that meets the needs of the contect.

A Level
Unit 3: This unit requires students to learn about food science, processes and manufacture. It builds on the knowledge learnt during unit 1.
Unit 4: This unit is a design and make assignment with a real commercial context. It is a single and substantial designing and making activity.

Grade B or above in Design and Technology: Food
