Course description

This course is suitable for many students as it complements both Science and Arts based A Level subject choices. It is suitable for:

* Students who wish to consider and understand one of the most persistent forces in human history. Religion exerts its influence in many ways throughout the world today. On this course you will have the opportunity to discuss many of the ethical issues which lie behind scientific development such as genetic engineering and the use of human embryos in research.
* Students who wish to go to University to take a variety of courses in humanities, law, arts, philosophy, psychology and sciences as well as the specific courses in Religious Studies, Theology and related disciplines.

Entry requirements

The AS / A-level in Religious Studies course is available to any girl entering the Sixth Form. Completion of the GCSE course is not a requirement for entry.

The AS / A level course accommodate the needs of girls with no prior knowledge of the subject whilst allowing others the opportunity to build on knowledge, understanding and skill gained at GCSE.

The syllabus is not designed to lead girls to a particular religious commitment but is an intellectually demanding and educational activity by which students may identify and discuss important questions of human experience and topical ethical issues.
