Hairdressing Apprenticeship Advanced Level at Guildford College

Course description

This course is ideal if you already have a Hairdressing Intermediate Level Apprenticeship or equivalent Level 2 qualification and want to become a Senior Stylist or manager.


Course content

Topics include:

  • colour hair using a variety of techniques including colour correction
  • creatively dress long hair
  • develop and enhance your creative hairdressing skills
  • create a variety of permed effects
  • promote additional services and products
  • creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques.

You also study employee rights and responsibilities, personal learning and thinking skills and Functional Skills in Maths and English.


Entry requirements

You should have achieved the Hairdressing Intermediate Apprenticeship or equivalent Level 2 qualification and be working as a stylist in the industry.

You will be required to achieve Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 2 (GCSE equivalent to grade C).

You should also have appropriate personal presentational and social skills, excellent communication and customer service skills and be able to remain professional throughout any situation.



Continuous assessment throughout the course in the workplace and at College via practical observations and online tests.


Future opportunities

This qualification provides progression opportunities for those with intentions of progressing into management or onto a higher level qualification.


Further information

Training is delivered in the workplace and 1 day a week at College where a college tutor will monitor your progress and conduct assessments. The College benefits from a commercial salon environment which is industry standard.
