Introduction to Early Years Education and Care CACHE Level 2 Certificate at Highbury College

Course description

The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to work with children between birth and five years with knowledge of children up to seven years.

Course content

The programme covers four themes:

  • Theme 1- Introducing the Role of the Early Years Practitioner.
  • Theme 2- Legislation, Framework and Professional Practice.
  • Theme 3- Play, Development and Learning for School.
  • Theme 4- Professional Development.

Entry requirements

You must be at least 16 years of age and must have gained at least 4 GCSEs at grade A*-D including English and Maths.

You will be required to apply for a satisfactory DBS.


You will learn and be assessed through a range activities carried out in your work placement and through College based study.

Future opportunities

Progression on to the Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator) or the Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator)
