BTEC Dance Level 3 Extended Diploma at The Da Vinci Studio School of Creative Enterprise

Course description

This Level 3 course aims to develop you as a person so you not only progress as a dancer but grow as an individual. You will be taught team working skills; presentation skills; research skills; audition skills; how to design a professional CV and how to organise and plan events and projects and many more all of which are invaluable skills for progression, employment and personal development.


All students take part in the Creative Arts enrichment and work experience programme providing them with Dance industry based work experience. Placements include the Urdang Academy, London Studio Centre, London Contemporary Dance School, Body works, Stella Mann, Billy Elliot Theatre, local dance schools and touring companies.


Students also have the opportunity to take part in workshops with professional dance companies; we regularly go to see live dance performance as part of the dance course including an annual trip to Move It!


Course content

The core units studied are:

- Performance workshop
- Performing Arts business
- Historical context
- Rehearsing for performance
- Performing to an audience
- Dance performance (touring company)


You will also be trained in:

- Ballet
- Tap
- Contemporary
- Jazz
- Urban
- Choreography
- Movement
- Dance appreciation



Entry requirements

To take this pathway you will need to have achieved five GCSEs at grade C and above including English and maths. You can also apply if you have a Level 2 qualification at Merit or above.





Future opportunities

Upon successful completion of the course, students can progress onto another dance related course or seek employment within the dance industry.
