Course description

BTEC First Diploma in Travel and Tourism provides a specialist work related qualification in one of the fastest growing industries in the world. This course is the equivalent of 4 GCSE's. This course has been designed to form qualifications that provide knowledge and understanding of this vocational area. They are ideal qualifications for those candidates who want a broad background in the travel and tourism industry that will allow them to progress to further and higher education or employment. These specifications support vocational pathways in marketing, customer service, world-wide travel destinations and tourism development, as well as providing an appreciation of the wider travel and tourism environment through a range of optional units. The BTEC First Diploma in Travel and Tourism consists of three complulsory core units and three specialist units. Unit 1 - introduction to the Travel and Tourism Industry. Unit 2 - Introduction to Tourist Destinations. Unit 3 - Introduction to Customer Service in Travel and Tourism. Specialist units: Introduction to Marketing in Travel and Tourism, Introduction to the Business of Travel and Tourism, Organising a Travel and Tourism Event, Work Based Project within the Travel and Tourism Industry.
