Functional Skills - Mathematics at Pendleton Sixth Form College

Course description

For some students, retaking GCSE mathematics straight away will not be the right path. If you do not gain a passing grade in GCSE mathematics, or acheive a 1 or 2, then you will be enrolled onto a functional skills mathematics course. This will allow you to develop maths skills in realistic contexts and earn qualifications before you try the GCSE again.

What will you study?

  • Numbers: Finding percentages, fractions and ratios in given realistic contexts
  • Shape: Deal with spatial problems such as designing the layout of a room/house garden
