Art and Design Photography A Level at The Piggott School

Course description

Photography A level examination results at the Piggott School are outstanding . This A level course has been designed to the highest standard by experienced teachers and directly supports progression to both further and higher education . Many of our students choose photography for the enjoyment and learning provided. The subject is often sele cted as a practical A level that comple ments other choices made and not necessarily as a direct career path. The AQA Photography Art and Design A level has been endorsed by some of the Russell Group Universities. It is designed to provide students with a rich platform of skills and a lifelong interest in making and appreciating Photographic imagery. It is a practical subject with theoretical elements. Students explore a wide variety of relevant photographic images from both historic and more contemporary artists. They are taught the skills, knowledge and understanding required for independent study at A level Standard. At an appropriate time in the course , students chose an aspect of photography that interests them which they can then pursue as an area for personal investigation. There are many themes covered at the Piggott School which link to the specification , these include portraiture, landscape photography, still life photography, documentary photography, fashion photography, experimental imagery and photographic installation.
