Applied Science (Environmental Physics) - BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at City and Islington College
Aged 16-18 and want to study the science in the context of practical uses and implications in the field of Medicine?
This course offers a mixture of hands-on work, industry visits and study in the theory of environmental science. It will allow you to progress to a wide range of advanced degrees, particularly in the sciences and environmental sectors.
You will study the history of science and the theory of science, with special reference to environmental and physical science.
You will study modules including Energy Changes, Sources and Applications; Microbiology; Practical Chemical Analysis; Plant and Soil Science; Electronics; Geology and Astronomy. You will also visit laboratories and places of scientific interest.
You will need four GCSEs at grade C or above (including Science, Maths and English Language). Alternatively you can have a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Applied Science (at Merit or above), with English and Maths as part of a Functional Skills module.
Applicants will also need a good reference from a school or employer. You will complete an interview and assessment prior to enrolment.
Overseas applicants must have achieved Level 6.0 in the International English Language Testing System (with a minimum score of 5.5 in each skill). All students will complete an interview and assessment prior to enrolment.
Assessment is continuous and focuses on practical laboratory work and assignments. There is no final exam.
You can progress to a Higher National Diploma in Science or a related field. You can also begin to consider junior roles in such fields as Environmental and Physical Science.
