Hairdressing - Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at East Surrey College

Course description

This qualification will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as a stylist in the Hairdressing industry. Throughout this qualification you will monitor procedures to safely control work operations, provide hairdressing consultation services, creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques and promote additional services or products to clients. You will be assessed on your occupational competence.

Course content

Mandatory Units/topics covered:
 
• Promote additional services or products to customers
• Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
• Provide hairdressing consultation services
• Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
 
Optional units (minimum of 4 units to earn required credits):
 
• Colour hair using a variety of techniques
• Provide colour correction services
• Creatively style and dress long and short hair
 
 

Entry requirements

A full Level 2 Hairdressing qualification and you must be employed in a salon for a minimum of 24 hours a week. It is essential you have the right mind-set for working full time and studying at the same time. Having a can-do attitude, being flexible and reliable are also important. You must also be able to communicate effectively with others.
 

Assessment

The assessment takes place through coursework, continuous observation of practical skills and end of unit tests. You will also be assessed in the work place by our salon assessor.

Financial information

If you are under 19 when you start your apprenticeship then tuition is free. If you are 19 or over please call our Employer Services team for advice and guidance on funding and eligibility.

Future opportunities

Completion of this course enables progression onto Level 4 courses and employment as a stylist.
