Cambridge TEC Media Level 3 Diploma at Deyes High School

Course description

Media at Deyes gives you the opportunity to study UK and worldwide media industries. You will examine its many products such as magazines, social media, music videos, film trailers and computer games.

You will then plan and create your own media products based on your research, creating a portfolio of evidence as you progress through the course.

Course content

In first year of the course, you will study four units focussed on the magazine industry.

These are worth 10 credits each: Analysing media products and audiences UK Media Publishing Planning and pitching a print based media product Producing a print based media product In the second year of the course, you will study three units focussed on the music industry.

These are worth 10 credits each: Audio-visual promos Planning and pitching an audio-visual media product Producing an audio-visual music promo You will need 60 credits to achieve the Level 3 Introductory Diploma in Media.

Two additional units will be offered to increase students’ credit to 90 so that they can, with hard work, qualify for the Subsidiary Diploma in Media (worth more UCAS points). You can also expect the School to help you find a media based work-experience placement.

Entry requirements

Grade C in English.


Each unit will have set tasks you much complete. You will be assessed through the production of a portfolio of evidence which will prove you have met the criteria for each task.

Future opportunities

Careers in the Media and Creative Industries require a high level of ICT skill. Therefore, it is recommended that Media Students should also study an ICT qualification.
