Classical Civilisation A Level at Sunderland College
Classical Civilisation is a course for people wanting to gain knowledge and understanding of the classical world through direct study of original sources.
The course covers key topics of Classical Civilisations including:
- The study of ancient Rome
- A critical study of the Second Punic War
- The Life and Times of Cicero
You will need five GCSEs grade C or above including a grade C in English Language or Literature.
The course is based in the classroom using a range of teaching and learning strategies including whole class teaching, group work and working individually.
There are formal exams in May and June and you will also be assessed continuously throughout your course for each module you study at both AS and A2 level.
Studying Classical Civilisations opens a route to further study at university as well as career options in teaching, journalism, archaeology and museums.
