Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship Level 3 at Accrington and Rossendale College

Course description

The College course is made up of 40% practical work and 60% theory. The theory sessions will underpin your practical work, by covering health and safety, trade technology and other related subjects.

You will be required to achieve Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths if you do not have a grade C or above in your English and Maths GCSE.

Course content

Units include:

  • Safe working practices in construction
  • Building methods and construction technology
  • Interpret working drawings.

Entry requirements

In Painting & Decorating employment.

You would normally have completed an Intermediate Apprenticeship before you progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship. GCSE grades at C or above in English and Maths are required. You will need to attend a College interview and will also need to be employed in the industry.


Assessments & reviews will be carried out by trade specific qualified assessors.

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion you could progress onto the BTEC subsiduary diploma/HNC or Interior design course.
