Plumbing Level 2 Diploma at Blackburn College
During this Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing the college will provide you with a highly structured approach to training, where you will be introduced to the basic theory and practical skills required to install and maintain modern domestic plumbing systems such as: Hot and Cold Water systems, fault recognition, maintenance and Central Heating system identification, installation and maintenance.
You will learn skills used within the plumbing industry such as:
- Health and Safety in Building Services Engineering
- Scientific principles for Domestic, Industrial and Commercial plumbing
- Domestic Hot & Cold Water Systems
- Sanitation & Drainage Systems
- Central Heating Systems
In addition, will develop an understanding of the technology that underpins all plumbing installation work.
You will need at least 4 GCSE at Grade C or above (English, Mathematics, ICT and Science) or an Ascentis Entry Level 3 and Level 1 course, as well as a successful progression interview. You will also need to undertake a BPEC aptitude test.
To be successful with the practical section of the course you will undertake supervised practical assessment/assignment tasks. On completion of the set tasks you will be assessed against the criteria set out by City & Guilds, our awarding body.
Successful students could progress onto the City & Guild Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing Studies programme or they could move into employment within the plumbing industry, and therefore be eligible to undertake the City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating 6189-11 programme.
RECOGNITION AS A QUALIFIED PLUMBER REQUIRES COMPLETION OF A PLUMBING NVQ. WHICH CAN ONLY BE OBTAINED WHILST WORKING WITHIN THE PLUMBING INDUSTRY.
