Business BTEC Level 3 National Diploma at Langley Park School for Girls
The BTEC National Diploma in Business is an 8 Unit course equivalent to 2 A Levels.
This qualification equips you with an understanding of the essential knowledge and skills needed to help you embark on a wide variety of business careers.
The course is designed to be adaptable to your needs, interests and career aspirations. The topics that you will cover will include management and finance, international business, marketing and the business environments.
At least 5 GCSE passes at Grade 4 or above including English and Mathematics.
There are 6 mandatory units, 3 mandatory units will be assessed internally and 3 mandatory units will be assessed externally. There will be 2 optional units.
You must complete all 3 mandatory internal units and achieve a pass or above in at least 2 units. Assessment of these units is through assignments which cover the grading criteria for the unit. A variety of assessment methods will be used including case studies, role plays, witness statements and presentations. The assignments will be based on realistic scenarios for learners to apply their knowledge and make maximum use of practical activities.
You must complete and achieve pass or above in all 3 mandatory external assessed units. The styles of external assessment used for this qualification is:
- Examination – 2 Hours, 100 Marks with examination taking place January, May/June
- Set tasks – learners take the assessment during a defined window and demonstrate understanding through completion of a vocational task. Some external assessments include a period of preparation using set information
- You are permitted to re-sit any external assessment only once during your programme.
After this qualification, you can progress directly to employment; however it is likely that you will do so via higher study. Areas of employment include junior business roles in marketing, administration, finance, events management, HR, marketing and other related areas in the business sector, including higher apprenticeships.
