BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT at Bournville College
The IT BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of IT sectors. They give you the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for employment and higher education.

The IT BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is made up of a variety of units completed over 2 years. This includes the following units:

- Procedural Programming
- Software Design and Development
- Digital Graphics and Computers
- Client-side Customisation of Web Pages
- Organisational Systems Security
- IT Systems Analysis and Design
- Project Planning with IT
- Computer Systems Architecture
- Developing Computer Games
- Computer Games Design
- Mathematics for IT
- Event Driven Programming
Students will be considered depending upon experience, qualifications and interview. Typically you will have one of the following: 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above including GCSE Grade C or above in maths and English Language. BTEC First Diploma for IT Practitioners (Merit) or an equivalent IT qualification is desirable. However, if you do not have any IT qualifications you will be required to successfully complete an IT test at enrolment. All students will also be required to attend and satisfactorily complete a formal induction period.
A grade scale of pass, merit and distinction is applied to all units. All units will be internally assessed through portfolio evidence.
Successful completion of year 1 will allow you to move onto year 2 or consider employment in areas involving the use of IT. On successful completion of year 2 you can move onto university or employment.
