Art & Design (Textiles) AS/A2 at Magdalen College School
AIMS OF THE COURSE:
This form of communication and expression aims to:
Encourage students to develop their designs from original drawings, experiment with threads and fabrics, and to realise the design into a finished piece of Textiles.
Provide visits to museums, collections, The Clothes Show and practicing Textile designers as an essential part of the course.
Encourage students to explore a wide variety of techniques including surface decoration, dyeing, printing and fashion design.
Generate attainment through the creative development of process, production, reflection, and evaluation, leading towards skills, knowledge and understanding.
Combine breadth and depth of study with the freedom of choice required to accommodate a range of abilities, material resources and staffing specialism.
Encourage students to develop an awareness of cultural differences and personal preferences, and of relevant environmental considerations.
Allows students to study in depth a specific area of textile development of their own choosing.
GCSE in English grade C (a lower grade may be acceptable).
