Drama A Level at Ormiston Forge Academy

Course description

AS Drama consists of 2 units where pupils study a live theatrical production and study further set plays. Their knowledge and understanding is tested in a written examination. Pupils will also perform a significant extract from a play to a visiting examiner.

In the second year students study further set plays, which again are questioned in a written exam and devise a piece for performance to the visiting examiner.

Candidates who achieve this qualification may go to study Drama or Performing Arts at University. It may also prove useful to pupils considering a career in the Live Theatre Industry, as a teacher or in Performance Therapy.

Entry requirements

Pupils should have studied either GCSE or BTEC Drama or Performing Arts achieving either a Pass or C grade. Pupils may need to audition to be accepted onto the course depending on prior experience and qualifications.
