This two year course will focus on the technical aspects of film and television production. You will experience the entire production process from concept to final edit across a variety of products including short film, documentary, promo and live TV studio production.
There are two options of courses; the BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production which is equivalent to 3 A Levels (A* to E) and the BTEC National Diploma in Film and Television Production which is equivalent to 2 A Levels (A* to E). Running over two years full time both courses are vocationally based with a mix of internally and externally assessed units.
Learners will gain knowledge and skills in creative digital media production and develop an understanding of how to work within the media industries. Learners will follow a programme of study, developing digital production skills across a variety of different Film and Television products as well a broader understanding of the TV & Film industry and how it works. With staff that have a rich variety of industry experience and creative flair this course is a must for all those who are serious about creating professionally polished moving image products.

The course requires you to have 4 A* - C grades at GCSE level, or equivalent BTEC in any subject. If you are part of the new grading system for GCSE we would see a Grade 4 or above as the equivalent of a Grade C in this offer.
This Level 3 qualification is assessed via a combination of internal assessment, where tasks are set and marked by your tutors, and external assessment where tasks are set by BTEC and your response to them is marked by BTEC examiners.
Students invariably move on to Foundation Degrees with most securing their first choice university places.
There are also opportunities for media related apprenticeships at Level 3 and above and some students find employment through contacts and opportunities within the course. Students are supported throughout any application procedure and are provided with references and bespoke study plans to facilitate any external work experience opportunities.
There is also a direct progression route within the college onto the department's own Foundation Degree in Film & Screen Media which is currently in development and will launch September 2018.
