Course description

Why not prepare yourself for the world of work or Higher Education by following this course?

Whatever your interest, GCE Business awards incorporate an extremely wide range of units. The course is challenging for those who have an enquiring mind and want a course that is active and enjoyable. It covers a broad range of subjects set within a vocational context, with topics at AS such as Marketing, The Business Environment and Recruitment. At A2 they are Enterprise and Strategic Decision Making plus one optional unit.

The programme is varied and includes external visits and practical exercises. The nature of the course allows students to develop independence in research gathering, greater confidence and the ability to manage time and meet deadlines set.

Entry requirements

GCSE Business is not a requirement to follow this course. You require 5 GCSEs grade A* to C which should include a B or higher in English and a C or higher in Mathematics. Desirable qualities are good organisational skills and the ability to analyse, evaluate and interpret data to write a logical structured report.

All assignments are set in an organisational context and students are expected to apply theoretical knowledge to a real business situation. Some of the units are externally tested and are graded A to E, as are assignments. Your final grade will be determined by performance grades achieved in assignments and exams.

Assessment is 33% examination and 67% portfolio evidence.
