Early Years Education Diploma Level 2 at New College Stamford
This course will provide you with the key skills and understanding to prepare you for careers working with children between birth and 5 years, gaining further knowledge of children up to 7 years of age including:Children’s developmentKeeping children safeCommunication with children and adultPreparing and maintaining environments for childcareThe option to also study supporting children’s playing and learning and paediatric first aid.You will have the opportunity to gain a real insight in to the Early Years Sector with visits to schools and nurseries. Former visits include Forest School which provides an innovative approach to childcare and education.This course is approximately 40% theory and 60% practical.
You will learn through a wide variety of learning methods including written assessment, professional discussion, presentations and group and practical activities.
4 GCSEs at grades D or above, including English and maths at grade D/3 or above, or the Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Setting Diploma Level 1.
The majority of the assessment isongoing and will be completed throughout the duration of your course.
On successfully completion of this course you can progress on the the Early Years Educator Diploma Level 3 ,a Children and Young People’s Workforce Apprenticeship, or employment in the industry.
Students will need to have a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate ‘with no grounds that a student is professionally unsuitable to undertake professional practice or placement’.
