CHEMISTRY at The Weald School

Course description

This course places an emphasis on the way in which chemistry is used – and the work Chemists do. You study chemistry within a relevant context and key ideas are revisited in later modules. You will have the opportunity to learn from a range of activities, such as laboratory experiments, ICT (modelling, using spreadsheets and interactive resources), data analysis,discussions, presentations, model making and independent learning. You will also be able to spend some time working with recent chemistry graduates. Chemistry A-Level is highly valued by top universities and employers and is good choice for people who want a career in health and clinical professions such as medicine, nursing, veterinary science, as well as equipping you for a career in industry for example petrochemical or pharmaceutical industries.

Entry requirements

Chemistry – Preferred grade B or Core Science preferred grade B and Additional Science preferred grade B.

Maths grade B preferred.

Students taking this course should be prepared to work hard and have an interest in problem-solving.
