Course description

This course overall is designed to:
 Enable candidates to investigate types of organisations, sectors and business environments
 Provide opportunities for research into topical business issues and problems
 Offer opportunities for the development and application of a full range of academic skills
 Explore real business situations and plan appropriate investigations
 Be practical in the application of business concepts
 Understand the holistic approach to business and enterprise

AS Outline
Two mandatory units externally assessed both fifty percent.
At AS Level, this subject introduces candidates to the business environment and the overall nature of businesses. It then focuses on objectives and functions of businesses and how the different areas of business impact and affect all the departments and strategy of a business.

A2 Outline
At A2, this subject considers core knowledge understanding and skills in business objectives and strategy, as well as external influences, analysis and business change.

Method of Assessment
Both AS and A2 are externally assessed through examinations.

Two exams per year all equal to fifty percent.
AS Examinations
 Unit 1 – Introduction to Business
 Unit 2 – Business Functions
A2 Examinations
Optional units on business functions:
 Marketing
 Accounting
 People in organisations
 Business Production
 Strategic management

Entry requirements

Grade C or above in GCSE Maths and GCSE English Language.
