Health and Social Care Diploma Level 2 at Gloucestershire College

Course description

This course gives you the opportunity to learn about the skills and knowledge required for a career in health and social care.

The course will appeal to students who have a keen interest in health and social care and wish to study a practical work related course. The course is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grade C and above.

Course content

You will study a range of care related optional units along with the following:

  • Human Lifespan Development
  • Health and Social Care Values
  • Effective Communication
  • Healthy Living and Wellbeing.

Entry requirements

You need to have successfully completed three GCSEs at grade D including English and maths or to have successfully completed a Level 1 qualification in Social Care and functional skills English and maths at Level 1.

DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be completed.


These qualifications will be assessed by coursework, external assessment and projects, assignments, presentations and practical activities and on work placement.

Financial information

A fee is charged for the DBS check and for the tunic you will wear in your placement. You will be advised on a text book to purchase and you need to be prepared to pay for educational visits that will take place during the course.

Future opportunities

Upon completion, you may progress on to a Level 3 qualification in health and social care, or seek employment within the industry.
