Engineering - Electronic Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 at PETROC

Course description

This Apprenticeship can be completed at Level 2 and covers electronics. This course is designed for individuals who are in employment in an apprenticeship role.

Course content

The framework includes the NVQ (vocational assessment), the technical certificate, functional skills (for those who do not hold the required GCSE grades) in numeracy, communications and ICT, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PTLS) and Employees Responsibilities and Rights (ERR).We recommend you buy scientific calculator, memory stick (USB), an A4 folder, dividers and general stationary.

  • NVQ Diploma in Engineering at Level 2 (workplace assessment component) 
  • Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Vocational Technical Certificate)
  • Functional Skills Mathematics at Level 1
  • Functional Skills English at Level 1
  • Functional Skills IT at Level 1
  • Employment Responsibilities and Rights

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at Grade D (or equivalent) or above ideally to include Maths and English. You must have secured employment in order to start this programme and have a good basic education. Some employers will ask for GCSEs in English and Maths at Level C or above. Enthusiasm for your subject and a willingness to work hard are essential.


A range of assessment methods are used throughout the framework which varies from on-line tests, assignments, practical tasks and observations.

Off the job training is provided in well-equipped teaching rooms and workshops within the college and on the job training will be arranged with the employer
