Sports Leadership (Level 2 CSLA) at Kingsthorpe College
A one year course for people over the age of 16 who want to gain skills in leading groups in sporting and recreational activities.
The course is delivered as a double lesson per week and much of the course is practically based, however, some theoretical aspects are involved. Units covered:
- Organisational skills
- Satey in Sport - including taking a First Aid course
- Knowledge of the local sporting community and National Governing Bodies
- Fitness for Sport
- Events and Competitions
- Improvisation of activities
- Games and activity experience
- 10 voluntary leadership experience
The course culminates in students being placed in local primary schools in order to utilise the skills learned over the course.
In the past the course has produced skilled, responsible sports leaders, who can assist coaches, teachers and youth leaders to run activities.
The course is run as an addition to any `A` Level or OCR National Courses and can be an invaluable addition to UCAS or job applications.
