Creative Media Production BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College

Course description

Anyone interested in developing an understanding of the Media and its role within society, as well as developing technical skills to produce your own Media products. You should also be a keen consumer of a wide variety of Media texts such as films, magazines, newspapers and television programmes.

The course provides an excellent foundation for further study, particularly at Level 3 Vocational programmes. The practical element of the course also provides students with an opportunity to develop skills and techniques required to work professionally within the Media industry.

Course content

The syllabus we follow (Edexcel) is split into six modules and a final major project which forms the latter part of the course. A distinctive feature of this course is the practical production element. This enables students to put theory into practice and provides the opportunity to engage in creative and imaginative processes. Students will produce their own Media texts such as advertising campaigns and photographs for the Media. The course is assessed through 100% coursework, therefore enabling students to develop skills and techniques more reflecting on Media industries.
