Religious Studies at Haybridge High School and Sixth Form

Course description

Religious Studies, at A-level, is all about exploring scholarly and philosophical debates surrounding the Philosophy of Religion, the New Testament and the Christian faith. In AS Philosophy of Religion, students study the attempts that have been made to prove the existence of God and to reconcile His existence with the existence of evil and suffering. An in-depth study of the Fourth Gospel is undertaken in which students question its relevance and significance for the reader. An investigation into the New Testament’s perspective on life after death is also conducted. At A2, the course also introduces you to developments & expansions within Christianity and offers you an opportunity for students to present a critical appraisal of a scholarly text, pertaining to the NT.
