Construction: Wood Occupations - Benchwork Level 2 Apprenticeship at Stoke on Trent College
These courses cover all of the main aspects of your chosen trade, combine an NVQ and a Diploma and ensure you will be registered with Construction Skills. Apprentices must also complete Key Skills/Functional Skills. The courses cover both practical and theoretical elements and are assessed throughout your time at the College. All aspects of this qualification will be taught by experts in the purpose built Construction Technology Centre.
This course will last for approximately two years and is limited to those who are employed in the trade, and will cover all of the main aspects of bench joinery. Apprentices must also complete Functional Skills consisting of numerical skills and communication techniques. The course covers both practical and theoretical elements and is assessed throughout your time at the college. All aspects of this qualification will be taught by experts in the purpose built Construction Technology Centre.
Candidates must be 16 years of age or over on entry. No formal entry requirements. To enter this programme you will need to show enthusiasm, commitment and interest in the subject area. You will need to be employed in the industry.
Students are frequently assessed in the practical environment, in the classroom environment and in industry to check progress is being made. There are a number of theoretical unit end tests, various practical models and a final practical assessment. The final theoretical test is an online test on the knowledge gained throughout the academic year. You will also be assessed within the workplace for competence within this trade area.
On successful completion of the NVQ Level 2 in Bench Joinery you could be given the opportunity to progress into a NVQ Level 3.

Expert tutors are readily available to answer any questions relating to the course and you are encouraged to speak to them if you have any questions. This course will give you an excellent knowledge of the industry and the opportunity to progress onto an NVQ Level 3.
